Monday
Write your spelling words three times each.
Read for 20 minutes and complete a Reading Response.*
Tuesday
Choose and complete one activity from the spelling menu below.
Read for 20 minutes.
Wednesday
Choose and complete one activity from the spelling menu below.
Read for 20 minutes.
Thursday
Study for your spelling test: folded paper, flashcards, blind sort, etc.
Read for 20 minutes and complete a Reading Response.
Friday
Homework due.

Spelling Activities Menu
Write a synonym and an antonym for 6 of your spelling words.
Example:
Spelling Word –

Antonym –
Write the title of a make-believe book or movie for each spelling word.
Write a sentence for each spelling word, but leave out the words. List all of the words on the page. Ask a family member to add the correct word to each sentence.
Write each word 6 times. Each time, use a different style of letters (cursive, block letters, curvy letters, etc.).
Write a story that uses 10 spelling words. Underline each spelling word.
Scramble each spelling word. Have a family member unscramble the words and sign your paper.
Write 6 sentences using two spelling words in each sentence.
Write your spelling words in ABC or reverse ABC order.
*Reading Responses
DIRECTIONS: After you finish your 20 minutes of reading for the night, answer ONE of these questions. Your response needs to be at least four sentences long.
1. What connections did you make?
2. What did you learn that was NEW or SURPRISING from the book?
3. What do you think the BIG IDEA or LESSON of the book is?
4. Compare yourself to the main character. How are you the same? Different?
5. What questions do you still have about the story?
